Peter Kyle - Peter Kyle is Artistic Director of Peter Kyle Dance, a contemporary dance company dedicated to interdisciplinary collaboration and to expanding the reach and vitality of the arts.
Since 1993, Peter’s choreography has been presented nationwide including commissions by Kaatsbaan International Dance Center, Symphony Space, The Dancenow/NYC Festival, Cornish College of the Arts, Kent State University, UW Summer Arts Festival, Kaleidoscope Dance Company, Seattle Men In Dance Festival, and the Museum of Glass: International Center for Contemporary Art. Peter has received awards from Concours Internationale de Danse de Paris, Walter Chapin Simpson Center for the Humanities, Pittsburgh Dance Council, and Washington State Arts Commission.
Peter has performed internationally with Nikolais & Murray Louis Dance, Mark Morris Dance Group, and Erick Hawkins Dance Company. Since 2000 he has been collaborating with Pacific Performance Project (P3) developing interdisciplinary works with Co-directors Robyn Hunt and Steve Pearson. They have performed at On the Boards, HERE Arts Center, University of Washington, and in Kyoto, Japan. Peter has also danced with Chamber Dance Company, Dance Alloy, Gina Gibney Dance, and Works/Laura Glenn Dance, among others.
A highly regarded teacher, Peter has taught dance at the University of Washington, and as a guest artist at Cornish College of the Arts, University of Akron, Kenyon College, and the 92nd St. Y Harkness Dance Center, as well as at international workshops in Cyprus. He currently teaches at Marymount Manhattan College and joined the faculty of P3’s Physical Approaches to Performance workshop in 2001. Peter earned a BA from Kenyon College and an MFA from University of Washington.
